Make a Bamboo Ladder in 30 Minutes

I love the look of old ladders used as décor! I have previously posted about fun ways to use them, but I didn’t actually have one myself. I finally got around to making my own from large bamboo sticks.

These large bamboo sticks are sold at craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Michael’s and they come in light and dark colors, I even saw some green ones. I found mine in a bundle of three for regularly $16.99 on sale for 1/2 price, so I paid under $10 for them!!! Cha Ching! If you don’t catch them on sale, you can always go to craft store websites and print a 40% off coupon!

This project literally took me about 30 minutes to complete. First, I took one of the bamboo sticks and cut it into thirds for the steps of the ladder.

I then used jute to tie each of the bamboo sticks I had cut into thirds onto the full size bamboo sticks in a criss-cross pattern. Keep criss-crossing the jute until it is feels sturdy. I eye-balled the space between each step of the ladder, but if you are a stickler for precision, then go ahead and get out your measuring stick.

That is it! So simple, so cheap, and so many different uses for it! I use mine to hold throws, but click here to see lots more fun uses for ladders!
